Situated only 18 km from the northern side of Samuiin the Gulf of Siam is the island of Koh Phangan. The Island is much quieter and relaxed than its neighbor, with the exception of the fullmoon party where every month around 5 - 10,000 visitors come on the island for the infamous full moon on the east side beachof HaadRin. The island of Koh Phangan was first explored by backpacking hippies more than 22 years ago, Phangan was inhabited as long as two thousand years ago by sea pirates originating from the area today called malaysia. Koh Phangan was then targeted by Chinese migrants many of them from the province Hainan fleeing the economic hardship in their country. Kohphanganhas unnumbered natural remote beachesand coves, a few of them only able to reach by a treck through jungle paths or by hiring a taxi boat. One of the easiest way to travel from capital city to Phangan would be to buy a joint ticket from Songserm Travel for boats and express boats, bus, trains, air to the island. Another option is to take an 60 minute flight operated by Bangkok Airways 6 times a day from Bangkok to Samuiand take the speed boat to the island.
The island of island offers big choice of bungalows, everything between bamboo made party is a good advice. Hotels like Milky Bay Resort or Sarikantang Phangan have internet sites with bookingservices.
